On June 15, DeLaval cell counter DCC was awarded the “Great Fair Price” at the Semana Verde Exhibition in Galicia, Spain. The DCC received the award for – Best technological innovation – in strong competition with 19 other products in the same category. This international exhibition is the most important event of the region and 150 000 people visited the exhibition this year.
DeLaval cell counter DCC is a unique product that provides dairy farmers with the most important knowledge of all – information about the udder health and the milk quality of their herd. The portable DCC measures the somatic cell count in the milk, on site and in just 45 seconds, making it possible for dairy farmers to take proactive action to secure production and animal health.
The DCC counts the somatic cells optically and automatically. A digital camera takes a picture of the somatic cells’ nuclei, which is stained in a cassette with a DNA specific fluorescent reagent and counts the cells’ nuclei one by one.
Since the launch the DeLaval cell counter DCC has received no less than seven awards.
