DeLaval side-by-side stall

What is this?

Milking has never been easier

DeLaval side-by-side stall promotes milking from behind. This method has been widely regarded as a simpler and more comfortable way of milking cows. This is because milkers have easy reach and a good view of the udder without any risk to safety.

Perfect milker positioning

DeLaval side-by-side stall incorporates individual sequence gates that enable the cow to enter her stall as naturally and comfortably as possible. By doing so, she is in the ideal position for milking.  This saves you a lot of time that would otherwise be spent on getting the cows in the correct position for cluster attachment.  Sequence gates are also important in side-by-side milking as they protect each cow from movements of the cows on either side throughout milking. This ensures each cow remains in a good position for correct cluster alignment to give proper milking-out. This is even more important with in-parlour-feeding, where more dominant cows may otherwise push against neighboring smaller cows to steal their feed.

Milker safety

High splash guards facilitate in keeping the stalls clean. Dependable kick-guard pipes are strategically placed in the stalls so that the milker is well protected and does not have to face any undue interference or discomfort during the milking process.

Ideal for rebuilding

The conventional exit side-by-side may be the perfect choice for a parlour rebuild within an existing building space.  Many existing herringbone parlour buildings have adequate width for side-by-side milking, which enables the maximum number of cows to fit on the available platform length. During operation, sequence gates are lifted up by an electrical drive unit when the exit gate opens and the cows walk out. Sequence gates are lowered before the entrance of the next group of cows.

Quick throughput

The front exit option for DeLaval side-by-side stall requires a wider building but is designed to improve throughput by reducing the exit time for each batch. Cows enter the stalls and stand facing the exit. Once milking is completed the entire batch exits together so the next batch can enter.
