Ventilation solutions
Good ventilation is essential for keeping fresh air circulating in buildings housing your animals – whether calf shelters or barns for dairy cows. Your animals need fresh clean air to achieve their production potential. Unventilated or poorly ventilated structures with high levels of moisture, manure gases, pathogens and dust are detrimental to your cows, and your profits.
Natural ventilation
DeLaval curtains, ventilation panels and chimneys offer you flexible control of natural air movement to provide the well-ventilated conditions your cows need for year-round health and productivity. Choosing the right ventilation solutions will help you to create a good working environment, no matter what kind of barn you have. The curtains and ventilation panels all offer the option of manual or automatic control.
Mechanical ventilation
When you think of ventilation, you probably think of fans. But that is only one aspect of a good ventilation system. Fans only serve as outlets for the ventilation system, and must be combined with adequately sized and distributed fresh air inlets in order to work properly. The warm, humid air in barns – especially stanchion barns – must be continuously exchanged with the drier, cooler outside air. So an effective mechanical ventilation system comprises fans, air inlets and control boxes.
