Activity meter system
You know that accurate heat detection is a key to shorter calving intervals. Knowing when to breed each cow improves conception rates, reduces reproduction costs – and improves total milk production and profitability.
Improve breeding efficiency with DeLaval activity meter system
DeLaval activity meter system monitors each cow’s activity and reproductive status. Analysing cow activity identifies the heat rush – and any low activity which may indicate health issues. Early detection allows fast action: to inseminate on time, or to limit a drop in milk production.
The collar mounted activity meter collects and transmits activity data from each cow, every hour, 24 hours a day, via wireless link to the antenna. This transmits the data to the system controller in ALPRO or in DelPro for VMS. The herd management software analyses the data to identify cows in heat, enabling you to improve the efficiency of your herd’s reproductive cycle.
Using this DeLaval herd management connected activity meter system provides heat detection rates of up to 95%. It reduces reproduction costs significantly, by reducing days open and services per conception. The activity meter detects even weak heat signs, the so-called “silent heats”.
You can get heat alarms sent to your milking points; shown on screen in your breeding calendar; smart breeding filters, breeding printouts and reports. You can schedule automatic sorting based on activity level – and as the system also detects any decrease in activity, a possible early warning of illness or infections, this gives you the chance to act quickly to improve cow health.
