The Barns

Hamra Farm is used as a research facility to develop, test and evaluate the DeLaval product assortment. Milking is done in several milking stalls: a conventional herringbone parlour; a parallel parlour and a VMS unit.  There is also a laboratory stall for different production systems.

The Big Barn

This stanchion barn was built in 1900, and represents the most traditional and common way of stalling. Besides milking cows, the barn also houses dry and treatment cows, replacement animals and calves.

The R&D Barn

Built in 1985, the R&D barn is used to test and develop the product assortment of DeLaval.

Parlour: 7 × 2 herringbone 30o

The VMS barn

In 2002, the VMS barn was built to showcase DeLaval voluntary milking system VMS. This high-tech barn houses state-of-the-art solutions with the latest computer and component technology from DeLaval.

Manure pit: 30 m3 net volume for 5 days production
