Automation improves life on the dairy farm
“Dairy farming is a pleasure with the DeLaval VMS,” says Herman Van de Hoef. His family-run farm uses automatic methods that make life easier for everyone. The robot milker has been a big hit.
Their cows now yield more milk, while the family enjoys the flexibility and new lifestyle that comes with a robot milker. There might even be time for a vacation soon.
Herman, his wife, Lya, and their sons, Jeroen and Arjan, used to milk with a 2x5 Herringbone parlour and they also tried a rotary for a while. But they chose a milking robot for its labour-saving advantages and because it gave them more time for other tasks. They bought three DeLaval VMS, after comparing several suppliers, knowing they were getting a complete solution and good all-in service from the local DeLaval personnel.
Cow comfort is a high priority
The three VMS match other equipment designed for cow comfort including swinging cow brushes, cow mats and climate controlled ventilation. And the VMS create flexibility; they can plan cleaning and maintenance much more freely.
A complete dairy solution
Choosing DeLaval was also based on a good, local reputation and the complete solution on offer. They are very happy with the service technicians and have a DeLaval 24/7 all-included service contract for the milking and cooling systems, as well as other DeLaval service contracts.
“We like the way DeLaval works,” says Herman. “We are dairy farmers. Dairy farming is our passion.”
