"We really wanted to gain time for family outings. Now, since we can better manage our time, our work has become more effective; our wishes have been fulfilled at this level."
Moving from a tiestall barn into a freestall barn with DeLaval voluntary milking system VMS™ in August 2015, the animal comfort and freedom were greatly improved at Ferme Acaduc. Average milk production went from 32 to 38 litres peaking at 41 litres. The addition of the Online cell counter OCC offers accurate results that help control somatic cell count.
"What I find fantastic is to see how comfortable and free the animals are now!” said François Pinard. Milking since 2010, François and Daniel represent the 3rd generation to produce on this Ste-Perpétue, Québec farm.
"Now, we can play around so much with our time that the field work has become more pleasant and efficient," says Pinard.
For Pinard, sustainable dairy farming comes through the reduction of their environmental footprint. They hope city residents realize all the work that needs to be accomplished on a farm and that they notice all the great care offered to the animals.
“We chose DeLaval for the accuracy of their products, nothing is left to chance. The precision of the OCC, the equipment is readily upgradeable without any unnecessary replacement costs, our dealer’s service is fast and the quality and expertise of its technicians are remarkable. A lot of thought is put into designing all the products," continued Pinard.
