“Our goal was to install milking equipment that would last and be able to accommodate expansions when the time comes.”
Ferme Léonard et Lise Coté built a new facility to welcome Quebec’s first DeLaval Rotary milking system PR3100HD.

Moving from a parlour system to a 40-stall DeLaval Rotary milking system PR3100HD in June 2018 had a noticeable impact on milking at Ferme Léonard et Lise Coté. Average milking time decreased 70%. The addition of the DeLaval Body condition scoring system BCS and DeLaval Activity meter system also gave the farm valuable information about their herd.

“Our old system was too small, did not offer any data and wasn’t able to accurately identify our cows,” says Léonard Coté. “We renovated our building to prepare the next generation. By increasing the square footage per cow and upgrading our milking system, we were able to improve efficiency.”
The farm also makes sure their herd stays comfortable by installing one DeLaval SCB swinging cow brush for each 50 cows and regularly trimming their cows’ hooves.
In addition to running a more efficient and comfortable farm, the Coté family take food safety very seriously by prepping cows with DeLaval teat dips, regularly changing their liners, ensuring the temperature of the milk in the bulk tank is stable and cleaning the rotary thoroughly.
“We chose DeLaval for their technology, the quality of the products and equipment, and our dealer’s team behind it all,” mentions Léonard.
