Open Farm Day - McDonald Family
The McDonald family has installed a new DeLaval 72-point PR3100 rotary parlour on their farm. Talk to them about their experience.
Here is what the McDonald family has to say about their rotary:
"We went with a DeLaval rotary parlour because we liked the entrance and exit design of the parlour, we felt it made it the quickest rotary on the market whilst also being the most comfortable for both the staff and cows. On top of this, we felt the build quality, and durability, would mean the parlour will last up to 30 years without problems. We also wanted a smooth transition for our cows since we had DeLaval pulsation in our old parlour. The individual pulsators and Evanza clusters mean the vacuum level is extremely balanced at the cows teat end, compared to other manufacturers, this reduces SSC through reduced stress and increased comfort on the cow. The main reason we chose DeLaval is the backup and service. With Mathers Dairy just a phone call, the support and reliability are second to none. Since its installation, we have had very few problems, but whenever we needed assistance, Mathers Dairy Untensils were just a phone call away and responded as soon as possible. We also wanted to expand our herd but couldn’t milk any longer in the old parlour, we now milk around 950 cows all the time 3 times a day. One of the best things with the new parlour is that we can do this in 3 ½ hours, this has had a huge improvement in cow comfort and made the working environment for staff much better. Increased cow comfort and the new Delaval TSR, has meant we have seen a reduction in mastitis since the new parlour went in. With this investment, we know we can rely on the equipment and expand our herd as we see fit."
