DeLaval VMS™ V300 Rises to the Top

In early 2017, a Danish dairy became a test farm for the new DeLaval robot, which soon became the farm’s star performer.

Aneminde, a fifth generation dairy farm in Vilsted, Denmark, continues to raise the bar on performance. The farm produces nearly 4 million pounds of organic milk annually with 175 cows and three DeLaval Voluntary Milking System VMS™ units, including one of the new DeLaval VMS V300 units.

At the beginning of 2017, the dairy – owned by Soren Hojgaard Andersen and his dad – agreed to be a test farm for the new DeLaval robot. The results of milking with the DeLaval VMS V300 after more than a year are good – no, great. Or better yet – more productive.

The DeLaval VMS V300 is certainly the farm’s star performer. Not only does it milk up to a full minute faster than the other VMS units – installed in 2008 and 2013, respectively – but it also allows for 35 more milkings in a day, which equates to 937 pounds more milk per station. This, combined with the 1.1 to 2.2 pounds of additional milk the DeLaval VMS V300 harvests per milking, has helped the Andersons put more money in the bank.

“You want to make good milk as much as possible. If you look at the milking numbers, and the performance on milking, it is very good,” confirms Soren.

The enhanced robot’s impressive performance already on a test farm like Aneminde is due in large part to DeLaval InSight™ – the most technologically advanced attachment system in the world. Equipped with improved software and a state-of-the-art camera, attaching to the teat is now smoother and more accurate. According to Soren, there is also no teaching required for new cows and heifers.

“With the new VMS V300, it is a lot more accurate when you look at attachment,” Soren says. “It has a much better camera, which will give you a kind of smoother attachment to the cows – 100 percent attachment from the first time.”
