Responsible sourcing

At DeLaval, responsible sourcing is an integral part of how we do business. It reflects our commitment to conduct procurement in a way that respects animals, the planet, people, and food, while delivering long‑term value to our customers and stakeholders.

By working together with our suppliers, we aim to build a resilient, transparent, and responsible value chain that meets high standards of ethics, sustainability, and performance.

Our expectations are set out in the DeLaval Ethics & Sustainability Principles (https://www.delaval.com/legal). The principles are structured around animals, the planet, human and labour rights, and ethical business practices. Acceptance of these principles is a mandatory part of our agreements, and suppliers must formally accept and maintain compliance with them throughout their relationship with DeLaval.

How are the DeLaval E&S Principles structured?

The DeLaval E&S Principles consist of 15 core principles, each supported by a set of criteria. These criteria are grouped into two categories:

  • Must (M): Mandatory requirements that suppliers must meet in order to do business with DeLaval.
  • Good Practice (GP): Non-binding criteria that suppliers are encouraged to work towards implementing over time.

What is the basis for the E&S Principles?

The E&S Principles are based on internationally recognised frameworks, including:

  • the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights
  • the International Bill of Human Rights
  • the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business Conduct
  • the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas
  • the DeLaval Code of Business Conduct
