DeLaval Presents Awards at ADSA Annual Meeting

At the annual meeting of the American Dairy Science Association (ADSA®), DeLaval had the honor of presenting two distinguished awards during a ceremony on June 24, 2019. Sandra Godden received the 2019 West Agro Award for outstanding research in milk quality, and Victor Cabrera accepted the 2019 DeLaval Dairy Extension Award.

DeLaval Dairy Extension Award 

The DeLaval Dairy Extension Award recognizes individuals for outstanding achievements in dairy extension, including valuable and noteworthy contributions in production, manufacturing, marketing and youth work. Nominees must be active in dairy extension and have at least 10 years of dairy extension work with an educational or public institution.

Victor received the award for his extension program work, which helps dairy farmers make decisions that lead to increased profitability, decreased environmental impact, and enhanced long-term sustainability. As a professor and an extension dairy specialist at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, he is focused on advancing the development of a “virtual dairy farm brain.”

West Agro Award

The West Agro Award recognizes individuals for their outstanding milk quality research in the areas of mastitis control, milking management and milk production practices. Contributions must have occurred within the five years immediately preceding the nomination. DeLaval owns West Agro Inc., a reputable brand of milk quality solutions.

Sandra earned the recognition for her research work in mastitis control, colostrum and calf health management. As a professor at the University of Minnesota’s College of Veterinary Medicine, she is involved with professional veterinary student teaching, applied research and outreach activities in dairy production medicine. Sandra earned her doctorate in Veterinary Science from the University of Guelph in Canada.
