"By installing a new parlor that has the capability of milking twice as many cows as our previous parlor, we have gained efficiencies."
Both Paul and Jody Stempfle grew up on their families’ rural Iowa dairy farms. Together they established Stempfle Holsteins with 45 cows in Maynard, Iowa, and have come a long way since starting up.
Through several expansions over the course of two decades, the Stempfles have grown to their current size of 600 milk cows. In October of 2016, the Stempfles began milking three times per day in their new DeLaval double-16 EnDurance™ parallel parlor. They also raise 750 acres of corn and alfalfa and own and operate a 2,000-head hog finishing facility.
"We have used DeLaval our whole life and appreciate the exceptional service we have learned to expect, making it an easy decision to continue on the path with DeLaval," says Paul Stempfle, owner and operator.
Paul and Jody's two children, Scott and Jessica, also work full-time on their farm. Scott oversees herd health and Jessica mixes feed for the milking herd.
Stempfle Holsteins also installed DeLaval farm monitoring cameras that they use to keep an eye on their herd from the farm office computer or on any of their smart phones.
The Stempfles built their current dairy facility so they could manage as much as possible as a family and require fewer employees. They are happy with the fact that they by going the route they have, they are doing just that.
This testimonial was collected from dairy producers using a DeLaval EnDurance parallel parlor. The DeLaval parallel parlor assortment has now been replaced by the DeLaval Parlor P500, the most advanced parallel parlor we have ever created.
