In 2022, Rancho Pepper Dairy became the first farm in the United States to implement VMS Batch Milking technology, installing 22 DeLaval VMS V300 units for their 2,000 cows. 

Why they switched to VMS Batch Milking: This system was selected for its ability to gather detailed data on each cow while reducing labour needs compared to traditional parlours. The technology offers real-time metrics on cow performance, enhancing herd management.

New set-up: The farm features a parallel barn design with VMS units and feeding stations on both sides. After milking, cows are directed back to their pens through sort gates.

Dairy Manager Dawn Dial says: “The cows are very relaxed; they seem more comfortable than any parallel parlour I’ve seen.”
