Huirimu Farms"If we can meet the expectations on reduced milk powder and potential gains in the vat, we’re looking at around a 10-year payback on investment. And that’s not taking into account our animal health and people benefits that we have."
Russeed"We struggled to recruit, so something had to change. If we didn’t have the robots now, we would not be milking cows."
Newfield Dairy"We would never want to go back to not having a robot. In fact, there’s only one thing better than one robot and that’s two."
Hillside Dairies"People have done robots before, but no one’s milked this many cows quite through one system. And it’s so efficient doing it this way", says Alister who milks 1200 cows on 16 VMS™ V300
Riverholme Farm"Staff enjoy working here. There's no starting at 4 o'clock," Brendan says. He milks 430 cows on 6 VMS V300.
Aubrey“We were always on the borderline of being compliant. We knew it would really reduce our stress if we could properly manage our chilling,” says Bill. They decided to add a DeLaval glycol chiller, the CWC15-A, to their existing shed.
Wayne ShawPower used to be the second biggest cost for contract milker Wayne Shaw. When the farm he works on planned a new shed, he knew efficient cooling and heat recovery would be a critical long-term investment.
Nicki & Peter Webster“We didn’t actually monitor BCS before we got the camera installed - and now with the data we are finding out a lot of things about the herd.”
Haywards “We have the most up to date technology available to us and we have a system that we can build on as we go along. As technology develops, the shed can be developed with it.”

Introduction to VMS batch milkingFor more than 20 years, DeLaval VMS™ units have been used on dairy farms across New Zealand and beyond. Some producers utilising robotic milking facilities have experienced a range of advantages, including reduced labour requirements, more flexibility on and off the farm, valuable cow data, higher production levels, improved milk quality and better cow health.
